Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor

 HOLIDAY POPS...THE BEST YET!

Thanks are due to many for a super successful
Holiday Pops 2023!
To Diane Barbour for her magnificent
swansong effort as overall Chair of the event...
To our Co-President Jessica Barnett
for all her behind the scenes efforts...
And to Kathleen Murphy and Joan McCormack who led all the members who decorated and schlepped tables and chairs
To all the members who floated and hosted at the doors,
and to Tim Havens who oversaw
the delightful Interact gals at the
will-call and coat check tables.
Louise Moore and her crew offered wonderful
hors d'oeuvres that were, as usual, delicious
and sweet bites that were scrumptious.
And, most especially to Melissa Stacey and
Trista Christiansen who organized the reservations
and created the floor table assignments,
no easy job!
It will be a while before all the sponsorship monies
and bills are in and paid, but the total
amount we will have to do the club's good work
will be announced as soon as possible.
There will be a wrap-up meeting covering things done
well and things needing improvement Dec. 19 immediately
after the regular club meeting.

ON TO POPS, 2024!

About the unusual tri-president suggested format for '24-'25: To date, no candidate for president has presented him/herself. Each candidate for tri-president above has had considerable experience in all things Rotary and, if elected, the three candidates will plan to divide responsibilities that correspond to their individual strengths. In addition, each candidate is enthusiastic about re-establishing our 2-3-year officer succession format in the future. If elected, they will pledge to continue mentoring new and newer members in the upcoming months so that the club can have confidence that the 27-year-old Marblehead Harbor Rotary will continue to be a healthy, growing leader in local and international service.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES....

All Members: Looking for ideas for service and speakers in the New Year! Members are asked to keep an eye out in the community for possible service projects...in conjunction with other non-profit organizations or as a single effort by our club. If you find an opportunity that seems feasible, please present it to the Board at a short pre-holiday meeting on Dec. 21 or let a Board member know before that date.

If you know of someone who would be an interesting speaker, please contact Don Doliber, Margaret Greene, or Mike Elkin.

ENDING POLIO

District 7930 will have a big push in January and February to encourage clubs to either fundraise for the Rotary Foundation's "Get Movin' to End Polio" effort or have programs that enlighten the public about Rotary's efforts. We are SO CLOSE!

In an upcoming Scuttlebutt, Francie King will be offering a brief description of her family's experience with polio.

Can you think of an activity that could morph into a fundraiser for the Foundation's Polio Plus effort? Be creative!...and speak to a Board member with your idea.

Is there something that you would like covered in the weekly Scuttlebutt? Please let Linda or Jessica know (ldoliber@hotmail.com or jdharbar@comcast.net)
