SCUTTLEBUTT EARLY EDITION - Well, a little
earlier than usual...

ATTENTION: THIS WEEK'S MEETING
WILL BE VIA ZOOM

In an abundance of caution for members and our speakers, given the forecast of possibly heavy snow
in the early hours of Tuesday,
we will have our 2/13/24
meeting via Zoom.
Monday afternoon, you will receive
an email with the Zoom link.
Note: This will be a different link than
the one we usually use. Please
check your junk mail Monday evening
if you do not see an email from Jessica in the afternoon.
Please remember not to forward the link to anyone.

Friends Forever is a fabulous New Hampshire-based program that our club has supported for many years.
Two of their representatives will be with us virtually
to give us the scoop on their expanded programs,
which offer young people from many nationalities
opportunities to learn about
their various cultures, with the goal of
helping them to create mutual understanding
and peaceful solutions.

THANK YOU TO ALL MEMBERS WHO HAVE PAID THEIR OUTSTANDING AND THIRD QUARTER DUES!
We haven't heard from everyone yet, and it is hoped that
those who haven't as yet responded will do so by February 28
so that we can get bills paid in a timely manner and
correct any discrepancies in the accounting records.

UPDATE ON VALENTINE'S DAY SERVICE PROJECT

Forty-seven pink and red rosebud bunches in glass vases with
red heart lollipops in the center and individual cards
were delivered this week to
The Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Home.
Danielle Foley, Program Director, was most
appreciative and says that the many 'Headers
in residence will be particularly pleased with
the cards which depict Marblehead Harbor.
Good work, everyone who helped!

We'll be planning a similar service project
for the Devereux Nursing Home
this Spring, sometime around Easter.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO REGISTER FOR
ROTARY LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, VIRTUAL

Registration for RLI sessions closes 10 days before the event.
If you want to learn more about Rotary
and the many opportunities Rotary provides for service,
please do consider RLI. The information shared
among Rotarians from various clubs and districts
is energizing!

Two evenings, February 27 and 29
Designed for all Rotarians - who, by virtue of their Rotary membership, are already leaders in their communities -
and for leaders who may want to
assume board positions in the future.
Led by experienced facilitators, the format is non-lecture and is discussion-based on subjects that all Rotarians need to understand about how Rotary works and what opportunities are out there for service.
Cost = $25. Registration info is on the District 7930 website. The club will 100% reimburse any member who takes Part I of the three-part curriculum and 50% for any member who takes Parts II, III, or Graduate. See Linda if you want to attend.

Bringing a guest to Rotary...Easy-Peasey!

Do you have a friend who would like to enjoy
breakfast with you and hear an interesting speaker?
Or, when you mention you are a Rotarian, has
someone asked you, "What is Rotary all about?"
Inviting someone to Rotary is easy...
Simply let Linda or Jessica know when
you will be bringing someone and
be willing to foot the breakfast charge
for that person.

THE LEE AND BARRY WEED SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

There is still an opportunity for accepting additional donations to increase the amount already allocated to the scholarship. Please see Linda or Jessica for specifics if you are considering making a donation.

ENDING POLIO
The District iniative may have ended, but there is still an opportunity to create an activity that could morph into a fundraiser for the Foundation's Polio Plus effort. Speak to a Board member with your idea(s).

The Ipswich Club is doing a clever
"P is for Polio...Plunge, Paddle or Pedal"
fundraiser. Read about it in the District
EBulletin newsletter.

Surely, we can put our creative minds together
to raise funds for this Rotary initiative.
Put your thinking caps on, please!
