BRINGING BACK THE OLD...

As many of you remember, in an effort to be more sensitive to the environment, club members used to bring their own coffee mugs to meetings from home.

Re-starting this Tuesday, Jan. 9, members
are requested to bring their personal coffee mugs
every Tuesday.
This will cut down on paper goods and augment the effect of the already available more environmentally friendly use of biodegradable plates and metal flatware
instead of single use plastic.

(If you regularly bring the tall travel containers already, please make sure that everyone has had a first cup
before refilling.)

Let's do better in supporting Rotary's newest
Area of Focus: The Environment. The newly formed
Green Committee will be giving us more
information as the year progresses.

GREAT NEWS TO SHARE WITH ALL

Before Lee Weed passed away,
your board voted $2,500 to establish the
Lee and Barry Weed Service Scholarship
in honor of Lee and Barry's
charter membership in this club
and their many years of service to
this community and to Rotary.
In the upcoming weeks, representatives from
the club will be working closely
with reps from the board of the
RCoMH Enhanced Scholarship Trust with
the object of exploring the possible transfer 0f
club funds already raised to the
$20,000 that has also been raised by the
RCoMH Enhanced Scholarship Trust folks
for the purpose of honoring Lee and Barry.

The exciting possibility is that the combined funds may
turn into a yearly renewable scholarship
to a Marblehead High School graduating senior
or a Marblehead resident who graduates from
an out-of-town high school. The award would be based on
a number of criteria, with an emphasis on
service to community, school, or family
in addition to financial need.

Long-time Club Scholarship Committee Chair, Lee was very specific in her wish that exceptional Service be an
important factor in selecting deserving students for any
scholarship in her name. In addition, she specified that it not be simply the Lee Weed Scholarship but that it be named
the Lee and Barry Weed Service Scholarship, as Barry also
served as District Asst. Treasurer in
addition to his many years of club service.

There is an opportunity for accepting additional donations to increase the amount already allocated to the scholarship. Please see Linda or Jessica for specifics if you are considering
making a donation.
