90-MINUTE CRUISE OF SALEM SOUND
Thursday, August 23, Arrive by 5:15 p.m.
Pickering Wharf Marina, Salem
$25 per person

Celebrate the last days of August in true “harbor” style with an evening cruise of Salem Sound arranged exclusively for Marblehead Harbor Rotarians and their guests aboard “Finback,” the 50-foot sightseeing boat owned and operated by Mahi Mahi Cruises. Arrive at Pickering Wharf Marina by 5:15 p.m. Enjoy the next 90 minutes on calm, protected waters, with beautiful views of the shoreline, harbors, landmarks, lighthouses, estates and wildlife. Bring a sweater or jacket - it gets chilly on the water.

We’ll snack on wrap sandwiches prepared by Louise Moore, along with chips, cookies and light beverages. Plus there is a cash bar for more spirited refreshment. All of this for $25 per person — rain or shine — but cancelled in case of thunderstorms.

The capacity is 30 people total with a limit of one guest per member. Make your reservation with full payment beginning this Tuesday at breakfast. For more information, contact John Williams.

From Craig Saline, Rotary Club of Andover
HOORAY. Because of The Rotary Club of Marblehead Harbor’s $3,000 support and patience, the H2Okari Water project had a grand water-drinking celebration called SPLASH in March 2018. Over 400 community members and dignitaries were on hand to share in the good, healthy news of safe water for the neighbors, the Okari School, the medical dispensary, technical school and elementary school. 1,200 people in all.

Plus we had to shift gears and do a system redesign when the 140 meter well bore head was dry. Then we went to Plan B which was the contaminated spring 500+ meters away. So we had to build a different distribution and treatment system to make it safe water to drink.

But Plan B worked and the project is a success.  Our next challenge is sustainability through the new Safe Water Committee established by this project. All thanks to you! Whew!

Attached is a small presentation we put together to chronicle the work and celebration. Four years to completion. Step by step. (THIS WILL BE SENT OUT TO THE CLUB IN A SEPARATE EMAIL)

Best regards,
Craig Saline, H2Okari Project - Rotary Club of Andover
