Scuttlebutt January 31, 2021
This Tuesday we have Robert Bonny from the Citizens Climate Lobby with us.  Our Rotary areas of focus now include environmental concerns and the Biden administration has made climate action one of its priorities.  This week’s meeting is very timely.

After our meeting last week about food insecurity there has been much activity with the MHD Rotary and the Interact club.  MHD has agreed to collaborate with us on a joint project. Blair Lord their incoming president and I with some of our members will be putting together a plan.  The Interact group will be collecting jackets, coats, hats, gloves until February vacation then begin collecting food. We already have received hats and gloves from the Elderact group. We are well on the way to providing some help.

A letter has been sent to the SSU administration thanking them for the wonderful staff they have caring for the student’s needs. I have received responses thanking us for our involvement.  See the SSU list below.

I would like about 5 folks on a task force to determine logistics.  By next week we will have something set to help the Chelsea Collaborative and the Lynn North Shore Families Together.  Until we have set the plan please gather these items for later distribution.
  • groceries and personal hygiene items;
  • diaper, formula, wipes for mothers with babies;
  • pots, pans, plates, for families getting settled;
  • books, toys, puzzles, etc.
For those of us who are comfortable driving around they have asked for daily lunch drop-offs for families with young children and hot meals for Covid-positive patients or those in particularly dire straits.
