Greeter: Virtual Meeting

PRESIDENT’S CORNER
INSTALLATION DINNER
This year’s Installation Dinner is all set for next Tuesday, June 23rd at 6:30pm. Please save the date and prepare to have a virtual dinner, or snack, with your favorite Rotarians and friends while the Zoom event is going on.
More information will be forthcoming soon. Thank you, Jessica Barnett for the beautiful poster, and for the following.
"Patricia Sullivan has requested that funds raised during the Installation Dinner benefit the 200 years old Marblehead Female Humane Society that has remained faithful to its original mission of quietly and respectfully helping Marblehead residents in need. The Society with the antiquated name has been in existence since 1816 and it is Marblehead’s oldest charitable organization. When Pastor John Bartlett suggested that some kind of group to help those in need was urgently needed, 125 women of Marblehead rallied to his call. On November 19, 1816 at the Academy Hall on Pleasant Street the Marblehead Female Humane Society was formally organized."

The New Board composition is as follows:
President, Patricia Sullivan
Vice President, Lee Weed
Vice-president Elect, Luis Ribas
Secretary, John Williams
Assistant Secretary, Pam Peterson
Treasurer, Tim Shotmeyer
Assistant Treasurer, Becky Linhart
Past President, Kathleen Murphy
Director 2019-2022, Karyn Lang
Director 2019-2022, Diane Barbour
Director 2020-2023, Brett Lazar
Director 2020-2023, Cyndi Kilbarger

Besides the poster above, Jessica also designed a placemat and a coaster that can be downloaded, printed and used during the installation dinner. They are nice, add to the ambiance and help everybody us get in the spirit of the evening.
PLEASE be reminded that the Club Installation replaces the morning meeting next Tuesday, June 23. Attendance at the Installation will be taken.

ROTARY FOUNDATION
END OF THE YEAR GIVING

The end of the Rotary year, June 31, is fast approaching. Have you made your contribution to the Foundation? What types of things will your contribution supply?
$100 will buy a sewing machine for empowering an entrepreneur to start a business.
$150 will supply a school hand washing station and training on better hygiene practices.
$200 will purchase neonatal medical equipment for at risk newborns.
Donations below and above those amounts will also be welcomed and will be combined with others from around the world to carry on the work of Rotary.

IN MEMORIAM

Penny and Larry (Photos: Marblehead Reporter and Linda Doliber)

At its last business meeting and memorial service, the District remembered all the Rotarians who have passed in the last twelve months. Even though it was an online event, it was a very moving ceremony and many members spoke out after the memorial to share their thoughts about those that have left us, includind our own Penny Wigglesworth and Larry Procter. The Memorial Service was recorded and is now available here on YouTube.

CELEBRATE WOMEN IN ROTARY

With so many women actively involved in our club – including 12 who have served as Club President – it’s easy to forget that it took a U.S. Supreme Court decision in 1987 to end Rotary’s ban on admitting women as members. So, come out and join the Celebration of Women in Rotary.
When: June 20
Time: 5:00pm

BECAUSE WE CARE… NOW MORE THAN EVER

Our Rotary Club is, indeed, a special family. And in that spirit, the club’s Care Committee welcomes opportunities to celebrate our members' special events, milestones and achievements. We send out birthday greetings and congratulatory cards on a regular basis. But also, as a family, we seek to be supportive when a member or a member’s family is going through challenges — perhaps an illness or the loss of a loved one, or hardship brought on by the pandemic. If you know about an event or experience that the Care Committee should be aware of, please do let us know. In cases of challenges, we will seek your guidance and will be respectful of wishes for confidentiality and privacy. You might even like to serve on this committee. We welcome your help in “caring” for our fellow members. In all cases, please contact Jessica Barnett at jdharbar@comcast.net or Don Doliber at ldoliber@hotmail.com
