Scuttlebutt May 22, 2022
This Tuesday we have another wonderful presenter Ann Sinko who will talk with us about The Power of Shame.  Not that any of us who live by the 4-way test have shame for anything!!!

Jessica Barnett will be installed as our new president and our new officers will join her on June 21 at a special morning meeting at 7:30.   In addition to the club festivities we will have a complimentary breakfast that will include BACON, for those of you who indulge.  Please let Tricia know your attendance so Louise can properly plan.  We would like all members to attend.  Jess has chosen Friends Forever as the group who will receive happy dollars and donations.

Our Yard Sale was a huge success.  Thanks to all who donated, advertised, assisted with moving items, sold items etc.  If we decide to make the yard sale an annual event all members will want to be involved in this successful service project.  We are greatful to all the Elderact and Interact members who worked with us.

Thank you to Becky Linhart who has volunteered to chair Friends Forever in honor of Cyndi.  We do not know yet if the international group will be travelling this year.  If they do members will need to assist Becky in determining the schedule and implementing the event.

A Celebration of Cyndi’s life will be held on June 12th at 1:30 at the Old North Church.

It’s not too late to remember The Rotary Foundation with a donation before the end of our Rotary year June 30.  Why does Rotary ask for your money????

Your donation in any amount supports Global Grants, those large projects which are essential to carrying on the work of our Seven Areas of Focus throughout the world: Maternal and Child Health; Basic Literacy; Community Economic Development; Disease Prevention; Peace and Conflict Resolution, Clean Water and Hygiene; the Environment. Or, if you choose, your donation can be applied directly to the Polio Eradication program. (We’re SO close! Worldwide, only Pakistan and Afghanistan remain with active cases). Remember, too, that 50% of donations to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund from our district will be invested for three years and will come back to us to use locally. (Like the $’s for the Lynn Family Network commercial fridge and the $’s for gym equipment to keep our Marblehead Police officers fit.)

It’s easy! If you include $25 per quarter with your dues, Becky is sending in your donations. If not, go to www.rotary.org. There’s a Donate button. Our club number is 31834 and your member number is on your Rotary magazine cover (or call Don and he’ll look it up for you). Rotary will be happy to accept $100 or any amount with which you’re comfortable!  Once in rotary.org you can search for Donor History Report to determine your contribution to date.  Becky will be updating our this year’s contribution soon.

Yours In Rotary Service, Linda Doliber, Club Foundation Chair
