New members Lauren McCormack and Peter Cohen will be inducted at this week’s meeting. Please come in and welcome them.
PLUNGE FOR POLIO: ALMOST THERE
The Polar Plunge was a big success with nearly 200 Rotarians and friends plunging in Cape Ann and raising more than $91,000 to End Polio Now! The District is just $99,000 from raising the $1,000,000 pledged ten years ago. Our club raised $1,000 – Rob Deiana was our official plunger – and this week our Fines and Happy Dollars will be contributed towards that outstanding $99K. Be generous or be late… or both.
FOOD PANTRY CONTRIBUTION FOR MARCH
Canned Pasta
We now accept food contributions in the first meeting of the month. Everyone who brings in a donation receives a free raffle ticket.
NEW FRIENDS TO DO GOOD,
FUN STUFF TOGETHER
March 24th is New Member Day. We are all encouraged to invite one or more relative, friend, co-worker, neighbor or trusted acquaintance to join the club. Ask Kathleen for invitation cards that the club printed for this event. We are planning a special meeting and will discuss details at the meeting. Please e-mail Kathleen with suggestions or speak with her at the meeting.
CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?
Here’s a fun After Hours Rotary Event (meaning you get attendance credit): eat, drink, and help people with hearing difficulties.
Come to The Landing on April 14th at 5:00 PM and they will donate 20 percent of all food and drink purchased that evening to the North Shore Hearing Foundation.
This event will feature great food, raffle and gift baskets and great company!
The North Shore Hearing Foundation provides hearing aids to individuals who do not have the insurance or resources to obtain them. Help us give the gift of hearing to local children and adults by making a reservation for dinner at the Landing. If you are unable to join you may consider making a donation online.

BECAUSE WE CARE
Our Rotary Club is, indeed, a special family. And in that spirit, the club’s Care Committee welcomes opportunities to celebrate our members' special events, milestones and achievements. We send out birthday greetings and congratulatory cards on a regular basis. But also, as a family, we seek to be supportive when a member or a member’s family is going through challenges — perhaps an illness or the loss of a loved one. If you know about an event or experience that the Care Committee should be aware of, please do let us know. In cases of challenges, we will seek your guidance and will be respectful of wishes for confidentiality and privacy. You might even like to serve on this committee. We welcome your help in “caring” for our fellow members. In all cases, please contact Jessica Barnett at jdharbar@comcast.net
Thank you, Kathleen Murphy and Joan McCormack for your contributions to this edition of Scuttlebutt.
GREETERS
(If you can’t do it on the specified date, please swap with a reliable Rotarian).
