We are excited  to have Jeremy Barnett at this week’s Tuesday morning meeting.
Jeremy Barnett was the creative energy behind the painted banners on Marblehead Little Theatre’s facade this summer. His interest in public spaces and public art developed from his work as an award-winning scenic designer and installation artist with over 200 theatrical design credits. While Jeremy has worked in venues including the New York Philharmonic and the Lyric Opera of Chicago and has done event design for Bruce Springsteen and Harley Davidson, he has focused his career on staging productions in non-traditional venues.
He has created outdoor sculptures and installations for the Tengenenge Gallery Zimbabwe, the ComPeung Gallery in Thailand, the Cuevas De Rodeo artist community in Spain, and numerous galleries in the United States.
Jeremy teaches scenic design and related crafts at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  He is a graduate of Boston University and Carnegie Mellon University. He also served in the Peace Corps in Ukraine.

“All hands on deck for our September 8 zoom speaker, Juan Gallego! A member of the Chelsea Rotary, Juan is a veteran of multiple Global Grants in South America and Rotoplast cleft palate surgery missions to Cebu, the Philippines. Currently spearheading a four-part water project in his native Columbia, Juan will tell us about his experiences using the resources of the Rotary Foundation.

Membership Memo: The Membership Committee is very happy to report that our newest member, Judith Green, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. She enthusiastically shares information about best practices for member engagement, new member recruitment, member retention, and short and long-range membership planning. Her Rotary experience has been honed by work for and with the Zone, Districts, and individual clubs. Welcome, Judith!

Thank you to our Speakers’ committee for this wonderful lineup.  And more wonderful speakers are scheduled for later in the fall.
Please invite friends who might be interested in this great variety of topics.

The POPS committee is finalizing packets that will be given to our members.  You are all asked to encourage businesses and individuals who have previously supported the POPS event and to make new contacts.  Remember our important dates:  Artist’s reception on zoom November  12th and Holiday POPS Re-imagined 2020 December 12th.

A few weeks ago, members of the Marblehead Racial Justice Team spoke with us about how we in Marblehead are and can be involved in racial justice issues.  Rev. James Bixby told us about a Racial Justice Fair event happening at the Clifton Lutheran church parking lot.  The event is Sunday, September 13 at 4-6pm.
