REPORT FROM THE DISTRICT INSTALLATION DINNER

District 7930 District Governor DG & President Installation Dinner & Awards

The evening was filled with a celebratory atmosphere. Members and guests arrived to find “Happy New Year” headbands, glasses, horns, and tiaras on each table which made for a very festive evening. The sun shone brightly on the club and harbor; and the room was filled with miles of smiles, high energy and fellowship. A delicious dinner and dessert buffet were served before awards.
2025-2026 District Governor Pooja Singla called the meeting to order. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, an outside MC kicked off the evening with a heartfelt rendition of "Proud to be an American."
Pooja and Ingrid Brown co-emceed the program.
The Distinguished Service Award aka the "Service Above Self Award," which has only been given six times before in District 7930, was presented to Joan Arsenault by Past District Governor and former Rotary International Foundation board member Julia Phelps and Pooja. This recognition is awarded to a member who fully embodies our RI Model and has made this a way of life.
- There were over 400 nominations – up to 150 selected. The six previous recipients in our district 7930 are Innis La Preneia (sp?), Mark Beam, Victor Salgana, Robert Rasch, Ingrid Brown and Keith Harris.
- The 2025 recipient from our District is Joan Arsenault in recognition of her work for Home Base, intensive care program, expanding the food truck. leading the purchase of a service dog for a veteran, leading the District through COVID ensuring PPE reached first responders, and spearheading a current global grant Home Base to support and serve Nairobi Dam. Joan has been invited to the reception at the Rotary International conference in Barcelona.
Other award recipients included:
• Jolee Garden, Stoneham Club – received District Award
• Award to Pooja’s husband for his support and always standing by her side to allow her to do her job
• Joan Arsenault received another award from Pooja
• Commitment and Outstanding Generosity Award went to an anonymous Wakefield recipient
• Gail Ralston was recognized as a major donor from the Andover club
Three clubs that had significant membership increases received an award:
Andover, Lynnfield and Newburyport
Pooja invited the Past Presidents to stand and recognized their leadership.
Tom Hankard recognized, thanked, and installed Terry Rezendes Curran as 7930 District Governor for 2026-2027.
Terry is the first female to repeat as District Governor of 7930. Not since 1915 has there been a repeated District Governor. This is a testament to Terry's commitment to Rotary, the District and every member in the room. Following this, Terry welcomed past District Governors to the stage.
Lastly, new Presidents for the 2026-27 year were invited to the stage!
Pooja closed with Committee Chair thank yous and to all District Governors and welcomed incoming Assistant District Governors.
The wheel continues to move forward - it started and ended with a little dance and fun music.
The Ladies of Marblehead Harbor all had a wonderful time and all traveled to and from together (Amy Hart, Lesley Tracy, Francie King and Linda Doliber. Marblehead Rotary Club ("the lunch club") sat with us as well: Aviv and his wife, Emily, and three other members.
